Well today we had an opportunity sit down with one young female entrepreneur who owns her own shoe brand and she shared her story.

Meet Betty

Hi, am betty the young entrepreneur who owns bettyz shoe collection and am also a youtuber who runs T and B life lane YouTube channel alongside my good friend Christine, am so business minded and passionate about business and this how I started my journey as an entrepreneur.

I just want to start by telling you its ok to start small because I also started small with only 100,000 Ugandan shillings which is about like around 20 us dollars.

                     by the time I started I was still working so yeah you can start your brand while still working for some but for me I felt like I could lose that job any time so I started slowly by slowly and along the way I lost my job just like I had thought of the possibility of losing the job but today we are not going to cry over spilled milk because it gave me the opportunity to focus on my shoe business which I had started.

Apart from the fear of losing my job, I was so passionate about shoes. Most of my life growing up I was surrounded by women, went to a girl’s school and made so many female friends. So this gave me an idea that I could share my passion by making ladies’ shoes which turned out to be a career Iam so proud of.

                        2014 was the year I started my business. like any other business,  I faced ups and downs like that one day when  you do not make any sales, feeling discouraged but you know how it goes , you throw yourself a pity party after realizing you are doing this for you, you get back up and keep pushing.

Some of the challenges I had and still have is not to own my own shop as am still selling my shoes online but by GOD’S grace I will overcome that challenge and own my store soon..

As we start our businesses, we have a dream of reaching certain milestones .my mile stones will be doing my business on an international level, supply to different countries, owning my stores in various countries and be known like some  of the shoe brands that inspire me. 

The brands that inspire are Gucci, Prada, victoria secrets, Adrienne vittadini, Alfani, Louis Vuitton and Bata among others.

As I conclude my advice to the ladies and gents is don’t sit down there saying there is nothing I can do, or I have no degree, or am not that well connected, I don’t have enough money…..start with what you have, get informed and educated about what you want to do, if money is the issue and you would love to get a loan, get educated about it.

 All am saying is do enough research before  you start and you will enjoy the benefits of being self-employed like paying your bills, being able to be the end decision maker and so.
